From an early age, Joseph has always been involved with music.  It all began as a child when he got his first keyboard from his parents for Christmas.  Years later, idolizing the classical melodies and harmonies of Randy Rhoads, the former guitarist for Ozzy Osborne, Joseph looked to new avenues for musical creativity.  With the help of his parents, he got his first Fender Stratocaster guitar at age 15.  This was when his passion for music rose to a new level.  While in high school, Joseph played guitar for the Algonac High School Jazz Band.  On the side, he was also in a Rock and Grunge band playing cover songs and original music.  With his friends, he would also go to Motor Lounge and underground parties in Detroit, getting a taste of electronic music.

Off to college with no band members to jam with, Joseph looked to vinyl records for backing and beat boxing to jam along with on his guitar.  In no time, with an expanding record collection, Joseph thought, “Why not mix these records together and play them for an audience.”  Working in the summertime, Joseph saved up enough money to buy his first set of turntables and a mixer.  This was the start of his DJ career. 

Starting out spinning hard trance and hard house at house parties, people started asking for mix-tapes.  After several mix-tape recordings, electronic music would eventually lead him in the direction of House Music.  While at an underground party in Detroit, Shea Osborn, a promoter and a fellow DJ came across one of Joseph’s demo CDs and the rest is history. 

Joseph Muckenthaler’s performances have included numerous metro Detroit area venues, clubs, and a former residency at the FLY Bar (formerly Voodoo Lounge) in Mt. Clemens Michigan.  Places he has played include Alvin’s, the Bleu Room, Carbon Lounge, 5^th Avenue in Royal Oak, Embassy Suites, Roseville Theater/ Wired Frog, the Polish Century Club, Ground’s Coffee Haus, the University of Michigan, and the University of Detroit Mercy.  Artists he has performed with include Mr. Terrence Parker, Dennis Cox (former Motor resident who has performed with top talents such as Bad Boy Bill, Richard “Humpty” Vission, Richie Hawton, DJ Dan, Donald Glaude, Tall Paul, Green Velvet, Aphrodite), the Got Game, Midcoast Most, Karenin’s Smile, The Press Club, Oblisk, Shae Osborn, Mike Raffarty, Neil V., 12-Step, Adam Hoffman, and Andrei Morant. 

Joseph’s mix CD’s include the Sound System Experience, Philo Chorea, House Doctor 1, and House Doctor 2.  His future plans are to blend Rock, Funk, Classical music, Hip-hop, House and Techno together in some remixes and original works.  Besides music, Joseph has earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Detroit Mercy, and is currently a Doctor of Dental Surgery student at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry.
